NTT DATA Business Solutions Graduates Diary - Week 2

Blog – week 2

Last week was a very busy week in terms of socialising!! We attended the NTT DATA Business Solutions “First Tuesday”, a monthly event that starts at 6pm with presentations and updates in the office and is followed by drinks and socialising for those who can make it. It’s great to see that so many people socialise together at NTT DATA Business Solutions, it really seems to be part of the culture.  It brings everyone together and it is a good way to catch up with others on different client sites.  We thought the BI night out at the C&B wouldn’t go on any later than 9pm, seeing as we had to get up for work/training the next morning.  We were very much mistaken!!  However, we don’t disclose any names or who was the bad influence.

Last week’s training consisted of project management techniques, AGILE and SQL training with Jo Folkes.   At this point it is really interesting to see the diversity within the group.  Some of us have a better technical understanding than others, whereas the others who are not as technical prefer the project management aspect.  The project management and AGILE training gave us a good insight into how projects are broken down and managed.  At present, many organisations have an emphasis on AGILE methodologies as it focuses on continual deliverables.  This is something that NTT DATA Business Solutions look to implement on every project.  SQL was our technical training for this week.  It consisted of queries, views, joins and tables.  Jo was an excellent teacher, as for most of us, this was our first introduction to SQL.  We now have a basic understanding of SQL, and are looking forward to using it during our upcoming BusinessObjects Universes training.

That’s it for now…
