itelligence Russia today announces that it has achieved 2nd place for the EMEA region in the global SAP Virtual Hackathon 2020 – Intelligent Technology Packages (ITP’s) for SAP® SuccessFactors®, along with everis Spain and itelligence Germany. All three companies are part of the NTT DATA group, and they entered the competitive event as a team. The task was to automate a business process within the SAP SuccessFactors Human Experience Management (HXM) Suite using SAP Intelligent Robotic Process Automation (SAP Intelligent RPA).

When the aim is to develop processes in a flexible manner and implement them with great speed and agility, potentially for global use, the strengths of an international NTT DATA team come to the fore.”
In February, SAP announced a hackathon to develop a professional use case that utilizes both SAP SuccessFactors solutions and SAP Intelligent RPA. Sixteen partners create prototypes, including everis Spain’s proposal for a process to onboard new employees.
Within the proposal, onboarding is controlled by a chatbot that was developed with the cloud application SAP Conversational AI. The user communicates with the chatbot, which passes tasks on to RPA bots (Robotic Process Automation) in the background. The colleagues from Russia developed the chatbot and the RPA bots. itelligence Germany were also involved in the development of RPA bots and performed the project management together with colleagues from everis. Together the teams won second place in the EMEA region.
“In this hackathon, we demonstrated that Robotic Process Automation and chatbots have a great future,” reports Alexey Petrov, head of the Innovation Laboratory at itelligence Russia. “Our prototype runs on mobile devices and links the SAP Conversational AI solution with instant messaging and the browser.”
SAP Intelligent Robotic Process Integration (SAP Intelligent RPA) automates the interaction between SAP SuccessFactors and Microsoft Outlook. The chatbot uses SAP Conversational AI as a common user interface for the automation.
“If a chatbot can pass tasks to bots for execution in Robotic Process Automation, this means that the user will no longer have to manually complete the associated steps,” explains Adrian Kostrz, Manager – Innovation Technologies, itelligence AG. “The user hands their query over to a chatbot, which finds the right technology to handle it. Chatbots can thus help solve everyday challenges.”
Innovations like these help companies to improve the employee experience considerably. Traditional human capital management processes are no longer sufficient to fulfil all employee expectations. “In the context of the implementation of SAP technologies, an ever-increasing number of our customers are interested in how these solutions simplify workflows for employees. The evolution towards human experience management places the employee experience at the center of all HR processes. Innovations, including bots, will be leveraged to a greater extent. The use of technological innovations in the onboarding process can simplify the process considerably,” adds Jan Ammann, Global Head of Public Cloud Solutions at itelligence AG.
