Looking Back at SAPPHIRE NOW 2019

As the dust settles on SAPPHIRE NOW 2019, I am in awe of the tremendous relationships we have with our customers. Having spent the week in Orlando at SAPPHIRE NOW for the first time, I was blown away by all of our customers’ successes this year. I know the days were jam-packed because the 22,000 plus attendees consumed more than 45,000 gallons of coffee during the three-day event — just over 2 gallons per attendee, on average.

It doesn’t surprise me that our customers found such great success at this year’s SAPPHIRE NOW event. At NTT DATA Business Solutions, we are always proud to be a small part of that success with our customers. This philosophy is embedded in our culture. Our People Values at NTT DATA Business Solutions form the foundation of our culture and we nurture them so they grow and, more importantly, we grow with them. One of our people values at NTT DATA Business Solutions says that “We love our clients for life,” and we live that value day to day. We want to grow with our customers and watch their successes. SAPPHIRE NOW is one event where we get a chance to do just that.

We kicked off SAPPHIRE NOW on Tuesday morning with a joint presentation from NTT Group, represented by NTT Communications, Dimension Data, NTT Security, NTT DATA, NTT Advanced Technology, everis, Secure-24 and NTT DATA Business Solutions. Steve Niesman, NTT DATA Business Solutions CEO and Ravi Puri, NTT Senior Vice President, were in the large theater to discuss how to “Enhance Your Customer Experience and Speed Innovations with the NTT Family.” And as one family of companies, we definitely care about our customers and their success.

Customer Success Celebrated at SAPPHIRE NOW

Several of our customers were in attendance at SAPPHIRE NOW, either presenting with us at the ASUG conference, participating in our 100+ customer meetings that took place on site, or at the conference to learn new things. Shepherd Chemical corporate controller Jeff Stenger, joined by NTT DATA Business Solutions industry solutions principal Brian Everett, spoke about confronting the realities of transforming to an intelligent enterprise and how his company faced a critical decision about how best to deploy SAP S/4HANA.  He and Brian further discussed how Shepherd Chemical worked with NTT DATA Business Solutions to evaluate, plan and execute their strategy to prepare their business for the future.

Stu Farber, Vice President of IT from Clemens Food Group, presented with NTT DATA Business Solutions vice president Rina Shah about optimizing and leveraging managed services in a digital transformation world. The two dug into the details of how NTT DATA Business Solutions managed services are leveraged for digital transformation and how to keep the excitement going long after the go-live. Schumacher Elevator’s CEO Jeff Schumacher partnered with NTT DATA Business Solutions senior director Cheryl Bogenschutz to discuss Schumacher’s rapid cloud transformation with conversion to SAP S/4HANA. Jeff discussed the business case to convert to SAP S/4HANA and move to the cloud. Jeff and Cheryl then detailed the approach that was adopted to successfully transform Schumacher’s technology landscape in less than 6 months.

All Work and No Play

During more relaxed times at SAPPHIRE NOW, we celebrated our clients’ successes during our Tuesday evening customer reception, Howl at the Moon. Over 600 attendees enjoyed a relaxing evening after a full day at SAPPHIRE NOW. On Thursday, before the Lady Gaga concert, a select group of customers enjoyed a pre-concert party with NTT DATA Business Solutions at the One80 Skytop Lounge at the Amway Center. These events were a wonderful way for NTT DATA Business Solutions to thank our customers and reconnect with them in person.

Hats Off to NTT DATA Business Solutions

Another great testament to our work with clients was that SAP named NTT DATA Business Solutions the winner of a 2019 SAP Pinnacle Award: SAP Global Platinum Reseller of the Year. These awards honor a highly select group of SAP partners worldwide for their commitment to value creation, exponential growth and simplification. Of SAP’s 18,000 partners, NTT Data’s NTT DATA Business Solutions was one of only 30 partners worldwide to achieve winner status this year.

“It is a great honor to receive again the Pinnacle Award as SAP Global Platinum Reseller of the Year, in addition to receiving recognition for four finalist categories: General Business Cloud Partner of the Year, SAP SuccessFactors Partner of the Year – Small and Midsize Companies, SAP S/4HANA Movement Partner of the Year, and Industry Innovation Award,” said Steve Niesman, President and CEO of NTT DATA Business Solutions North America. “Receiving this Pinnacle award and being named as a finalist for four other categories demonstrates how NTT DATA Business Solutions transforms trust into value by delivering SAP solutions to our customers all over the world.”

Final Thoughts

It’s very fitting that this is the 30th anniversary of the event called SAPPHIRE NOW and ASUG Annual Conference – and it is also the 30th anniversary for NTT DATA Business Solutions. We work hand-in-hand with SAP, and our success depends on their success. SAPPHIRE NOW was a great opportunity to meet many of the customers that make NTT DATA Business Solutions successful and to meet some new faces as well. With over 15 years of marketing experience in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, ecommerce, commercial real estate and public utilities, she has focused her career on B2B marketing. Crystal’s expertise includes demand management, digital marketing, content writing, inbound marketing and marketing strategy. In her current role, she works with marketing and sales to implement a data-driven demand generation strategy at the company. Crystal earned her B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in marketing and second major in communication arts from the College of Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati, Ohio, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude.
