London UK, 4 October 2022 – As a step on its journey towards a carbon negative future, NTT DATA Business Solutions has partnered with One Tree Planted and committed to plant one tree for every Consulting and SAP Managed Services day the UK&I company delivers each quarter.
The new company initiative named ‘One Day One Tree’ will see employees at the company given the chance to vote for the project where they would like to see the trees planted each quarter.
For the first quarter, a restoration project in Nicaragua, Central America was the chosen location for the initial 13,128 trees to be planted. Here the project involves repairing damaged woodland in conjunction with local schools so the children can be taught about the benefits of looking after the local ecology.
Announcing the initiative, Andy Steer VP, CTO & Chair of our Sustainability Board at NTT DATA Business Solutions UK&I said: “Sustainability is a fundamental element of our business strategy. Our PlanitNOW! Programme led by our new UK sustainability board will identify and recommend sustainability initiatives each quarter, track and report on progress, in addition to advocating and evangelising the programme. In our first year of the ‘One Day One Tree’ initiative, we estimate we can plant over 50,000 trees to help combat the damaging effects of climate change for this fiscal year alone”.

Trees also provide tremendous social impacts by providing jobs to over 1.6 billion people, empowering women in underdeveloped nations, and supporting communities devastated by environmental damage.”
In future quarters, the company is welcoming requests from customers who have contributed by using their services, to cobrand specific projects with the costs fully covered by NTT DATA Business Solutions.
