Why This Matters?
After 2026, SAP will no longer provide bug fixes for SAP BusinessObjects 4.3. While the risk to your current reporting environment may be low, any new reporting requirements that rely on functionality affected by unresolved bugs could be impacted. Additionally, it’s important to consider hardware and operating system compatibility. SAP BusinessObjects 4.3 is certified only up to Windows Server 2025 and Windows 11 for desktop clients.
Continuing to run SAP BusinessObjects 4.3 beyond 2027 poses a significantly higher risk, as SAP will no longer provide security updates.
What are the Options for Customers?
1. Transition to SAP Analytics Cloud
SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) is SAP’s strategic investment and a core component of the SAP Business Data Cloud. It is a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution that integrates Business Intelligence, Planning, and Predictive capabilities into a single platform with quarterly updates without the need for costly or disruptive upgrades. As part of SAP Business Data Cloud, SAP Analytics Cloud provides the reporting and planning capability to deliver the next generation of AI and data powered business.
SAP Analytics Cloud supports four user experiences:
- SAC Stories: Interactive dashboards and visual reports accessible via web browser
- Excel Add-in for SAC: A lightweight Excel integration for basic reporting needs
- SAP Analysis for Office, edition for SAC: A powerful Excel add-in ideal for users transitioning from BEx Analyzer or SAP Analysis for Office
- SAP Analytics Cloud Mobile. Native mobile apps for iOS and Android
If you’re considering a move to SAP Analytics Cloud, now is the time to begin planning your transition.
Licensing: SAP Analytics Cloud is available via subscription to the SAP Business Data Cloud.
2. Upgrade to SAP BusinessObjects 2025
Released on 12th March 2025, SAP BusinessObjects 2025 is available both on-premise and via the SAP Private Cloud. While you can upgrade from SAP BusinessObjects 4.3, there are several important changes to be aware of. SAP has been streamlining the BusinessObjects toolset over recent years.

The key changes are:
- Removal of Crystal Reports for Enterprise, Analysis for OLAP and Live Office
- Removal of Lumira Discovery (Lumira Designer remains supported)
- Discontinuation of the Universe Design Tool and .unv universes — only .unx universes created with the Information Design Tool will be supported
If your organisation currently uses any of the deprecated tools, you will need to migrate those requirements to supported alternatives.
