Andy Steer

VP & Chief Technology Officer

After spending 4 years in Britain’s Windiest City (Plymouth) I graduated in 1996 with an Honours Degree in Electronic Communications Engineering, unfortunately somewhere along the way I lost the passion for the subject. Instead, I pursued a nascent interest in computing which led to a help desk role supporting a large and demanding Crystal Reports user base, a brutal introduction to the world of Business Intelligence.

A combination of enthusiasm and willingness accompanied by a small degree of competency led to a life on the road. A fun few years followed, full of customer consulting projects and the delivery of technical training courses far and wide in the role of Principal BI Consultant at CONTEMPORARY plc, a leading independent BI consulting practice.

Opportunity took me away from project work into the role of Professional Services Director focusing on project delivery and business growth. I was instrumental in introducing Agile Methodologies, revolutionising the approach to solution implementation and leading to a period of sustained growth and technical achievement.

In 2010 I took over as Managing Director of CONTEMPORARY and in 2011 led the business through the transition following the successful sale to itelligence, after which I became Director of the newly founded Business Analytics division. After the 2012 acquisition of Blueprint I took up the post of UK Group CTO. In 2021, itelligence UK re-branded to NTT DATA Business Solutions.

As the principal architect of the NTT DATA Business Solutions UK technology strategy, I spend most of my time with 3 communities; organisations looking to get beyond the hype of Digital Transformation, the NTT DATA Business Solutions team and of course Partners, principally SAP. With 20 years of experience from the early days of SAP BusinessObjects through to the latest SAP S/4HANA and Cloud initiatives, I can articulate the true value of SAP technologies.

When not at work I spend most of my spare time either playing football with my two sons, relaxing with my wife or getting depressed supporting Tottenham Hotspur.
