The rapid migration of SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA was a strategic decision to help the company take its first step into the digital future and benefit from the latest technologies as early as possible.
Switch on – conversion optimises logistics processes
With the SAP S/4HANA conversion in the Brownfield approach, Insta GmbH set the foundation for digitalisation and automation with a focus on process security, efficiency and the use of the standard functionalities. Thanks to the analyses carried out beforehand, the preliminary discussions and existing documentation, the project start was significantly accelerated. This enabled an efficient start to the implementation of SAP Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM), so that complex logistics processes could be seamlessly integrated into the warehouse and distribution processes. With its expanded functionalities in comparison to SAP WM, SAP EWM ensures more transparency, control and efficiency in warehouse management. Lots of what had to be realised as add-ons in SAP WM is already included in SAP EWM. Thanks to an experienced internal SAP team, Insta could take on many tasks themselves which helped to further optimise the introduction.
Highlights – compliance with the budget and use of innovations
Insta was able successfully implement the SAP S/4HANA conversion and stick to their budget while doing so. Now, after the go-live, the focus is on smaller projects and optimisations. Thanks to the sensible balance between SAP Best Practices and proven processes, and SAP Fiori and SAPUI5, the specialist divisions can benefit from optimised workflows, reduced paperwork and improved usability. The goal of a high degree of automation throughout the entire supply chain is to improve processes like the product-related change management and integrated software management. The central master data management has been consolidated and automated, particularly for business partners. HR processes like SAP ESS/MSS and controlling functions, including product calculation and outcome determination, have been optimised. In the future, Insta plans to successfully use other HANA functions in individual divisions.
The project remained within budget and went live with no problems at all. Following the successful go-live, we are now focusing on smaller projects to optimise the system further and adapt it to individual requirements.
