SAP officially unveiled the SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC) in February 2025. This intelligent software as a service (SaaS) solution combines your company’s data from all SAP and non-SAP sources and makes it available in a centralized location. Existing databases and systems, including Finance, CRM, Supply Chain/Ariba, SuccessFactors, and Concur, can be seamlessly integrated for holistic reporting and as a basis for future AI solutions, such as agents and intelligent apps.

SAP BDC solves these challenges: Traditional data architectures used to hinder the combination and harmonization of data. SAP BDC will enable new contexts and insights for quickly implementable decisions in the future. With minimal effort, specialist departments within a company will receive key figures that provide clarity in clear business language. Thus, traditional raw data processing is being replaced by semantic data and business logic.

The Business Data Fabric serves as the framework that prepares and makes data available in a uniform manner. Previously, data products were based on SAP BW, but in the future, they will be available in SAP BDC. Additionally, advanced AI solutions will be quickly deployable, and third-party systems, such as databases and ERP systems, will be easier to integrate.

A deeper partnership with the technology provider Databricks will enable companies to use Databricks tools’ AI and warehousing functions with SAP BDC – including virtually seamless integration of third-party systems.

SAP BDC is built on the robust foundation of SAP Datasphere; however, it goes a step further as an SAP-managed SaaS solution. This approach simplifies deployment, reduces operational overhead, and ensures continuous updates while maintaining high levels of reliability and security.
