As a global leader in automation technology, WEISS GmbH is committed to improving its technology, customer service, and products. Specializing in mechatronic drive modules and subsystems for rotation, indexing, positioning, and transport, WEISS aimed to reflect its values of innovation and sustainability in its internal IT systems. To achieve this, they decided to implement a centralized ERP system in partnership with NTT DATA Business Solutions, selecting SAP S/4HANA.
Complex Project Delivered on Time and Within Budget
The project presented significant challenges due to its complexity and scale. Despite this, WEISS, with the support of NTT DATA Business Solutions, successfully completed the project within the planned 18-month timeframe and the allocated budget.
The project involved the replacement of two separate Microsoft Navision ERP systems and the merging of two operating companies under one company code with two plants. In addition, a complex variant configuration was implemented with SAP S/4HANA Advanced Variant Configuration (AVC) to ensure efficient and flexible handling of product variants. Furthermore, the SAP PS module for the ETO process (Engineer-to-Order) was implemented to facilitate minor engineering modifications and provide support with managing complex customer projects.
Production and HR Processes Optimized for Long-Term Success
Another major achievement was the implementation of SAP PP/DS, which enhanced detailed production planning and significantly improved production process efficiency. Integration of SAP EWM with third-party scanner software optimized warehouse management, while linking the WEISS PDM system streamlined the management of master data, documents, and drawings. During the project, a successful release change was also carried out.
In parallel, WEISS deployed SAP HCM (Human Capital Management) and the cloud-based SAP SuccessFactors solution within six months. These systems, operational from early 2023, manage time and payroll processes, including the Digital Personnel File, improving the efficiency of HR processes.
