In February, SAP announced that it would extend support of its legacy ERP solutions from 2025 to 2027. It also guaranteed support of SAP S/4HANA through 2040. Here’s Everything you need to know about the change and how it could affect your strategy when moving to SAP S/4HANA.

What Exactly has Changed?

Two things. First, SAP announced that it would continue to maintain legacy ERP solutions until 2027. It had previously committed to support them through 2025.

Why is the New Deadline Important to me?

If you haven’t moved yet, it means that you have more time to create a roadmap that works best for you. In a previous blog article, I explained why it’s important not to procrastinate moving to SAP S/4HANA. Doing so could result in a bottleneck as many companies try to migrate at the same time. A lack of qualified professionals might drive up the price of migration or make it more difficult to fit into your schedule. The deadline may have been extended, but the above still holds true. In order to move to SAP S/4HANA in a way that best fits your schedule and budget, it’s important to begin the process sooner rather than later.
