March 8 is International Women’s Day (IWD) – a global day celebrating the cultural, social, economic, and political achievements of women. The mission of diversity management is to increase, maintain and cherish the diversity of our workforce. Our focus is particularly on creating the framework and policies to ensure equal opportunities and prevent discrimination in our working environment. Driven by the strategic approach of our management our diversity actions reach up to every employee. Thus, everyone is called upon to work with each other in a responsible and sensitive manner. Because truly lived diversity is not the task of one department, but the responsibility of every single person in the company.

The specific measures with which we put diversity on a daily agenda include unconscious biases trainings, the increase of work-life harmony, the support for women in leadership, the establishment of a fathers’ network as well as the appreciation of other life concepts by the dedication of our global LGBTQIA+ community.

Family friendliness

It is important for us at NTT DATA Business Solutions to support our employees in balancing work and family. This means flexible, mobile and part-time working models, as well as maternity leave for both parents worldwide. There are also good initiatives locally, such as the establishment of an internal kindergarten in Malaysia, the establishment of nursing rooms in Turkey or the German collaboration with awo lifebalance, a company that helps employees even more to find the good balance between family life and career.

LGBTQIA+ community

At NTT DATA Business Solutions, we welcome employees regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity, and we support members of the LGBTQIA+. As a company, we want to raise awareness and provide personal support to LGBTQIA+. In this regard creating a workplace and atmosphere where everyone feels they can be themselves is the most important thing. To support and celebrate Pride and diversity in our company, we set up a global LGBTQIA+ community and organized our first global LGBTQIA+ networking session in 2021.

Gender equality

At NTT DATA Business Solutions, we believe in a gender-balanced workforce. But it’s no secret that especially in the IT industry, women are underrepresented. To create a balanced workforce advocating for female leadership is key. That’s why we support our female employees with leadership workshops, female mentoring and cross mentoring programs, as well as networking events to create more equality in business life. With these and future initiatives, we have already increased female hiring within our company, but this is only the beginning.

Unconscious biases training

Humans are naturally biased and act on subconscious, deeply ingrained values ​​and behaviors, which can lead to structural and individual biases. Therefore, unconscious biases are one of the main causes of unfair discrimination or preferential treatment in the workplace. We want to ensure that our employees experience equality in their professional lives with the same chances, possibilities and recognition. At NTT DATA Business Solutions, we have implemented unconscious bias elimination training for our employees to raise awareness and realize when our unconscious biases are affect our behavior and ideally to discard those biases.
