The e-sports organizer ESL Gaming is using SAP S/4HANA® Cloud to automate internal processes and consolidate its financial accounting internationally.

ESL Gaming organizes top-class international tournaments and events in the field of electronic sports. E-sports are a form of sport competition using video games played either individually or in teams. The field now has its own established professionals with lucrative advertising and sponsoring contracts. Millions of people tune in for the global tournaments. With more than two million registered users and over ten million visits per month, the website of ESL Gaming is one of the market leaders in Europe and one of Germany’s most popular web platforms.
ESL Gaming took advantage of the high performance of SAP S/4HANA Cloud to automate everyday business processes. The application programming interfaces were created via SAP Cloud Platform Integration Suite. Using a template, the itelligence consultants first introduced SAP S/4HANA Cloud at five ESL entities in Germany in only three and a half months. In the second step, the system was rolled out to the branches in England, Spain and Poland. Lastly, the central system was adopted by the offices in France, the United States and Australia too.
ESL enters big league of IT with SAP Quality Award
ESL Gaming won third place with this project in the category “Fast Delivery” in the SAP Quality Awards in Germany. The SAP Quality Award honors highly successful and pioneering SAP projects. In this case, it also served as an incentive for further upgrades: “SAP S/4HANA Cloud automatically receives updates every three months,” explains Ulrich Kreitz, Head of ERP Cloud Business at itelligence. “Since we implemented this solution in the framework of SAP Activate and the itelligence One Method approach, the result was very close to the software maker’s specification, and ESL Gaming can use these updates without going through the trouble of making any additional adjustments.” One of the new features introduced this way is the ability to make forecasts based on intelligent machine learning algorithms, for example.
Thanks to SAP S/4HANA Cloud, the e-sports expert ESL Gaming benefits from universal digital business processes.
