itelligence AG announces today that the American-Canadian pulp manufacturer Mercer International Inc. will soon go with SAP ERP solutions from itelligence. The industry-specific solution it.timber (it.wood) from itelligence is, in some aspects, already tailor-made for the needs of Mercer International Inc., and represents essential processes for
the procurement and management of timber, as integrated into the SAP ERP System.
“itelligence AG persuaded us with its substantial industrial competence and the solutional approaches which are already well-defined in it.timber. This will support our current and future business models very well”, enthuses Katrin Stöcker, Mercer ERP Project Manager.
Mercer International Inc., based in Vancouver, is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of long-fiber pulp, known as Northern Bleached Softwood Kraft (NBSK), which is produced from the renewable raw material coniferous wood. The Mercer enterprises in Germany and Northwest Canada boast an annual output of 1.5 million tons of long-fiber pulp, which is marketed to customers in the paper industries of Europe, North America and Asia. Additionally, the company generates bio-energy — as both electricity and heat — from the wood components which are unsuitable for pulp production.
Some 700 users in three plants in Germany and Canada will begin using SAP ERP in the coming three years. Of those 700, around 50 users at the German plants will deploy it.timber from itelligence for logging operations and for timber purchase and –sales.
