Combining the Power of Data and Analytics to Drive Business Success

S/4HANA Finance Management

Boasting a world class line up of speakers, the earlier NTT DATA Business Solutions Analytics Summit provided a dedicated event for the SAP BusinessObjects Community.

With presentations from Andy Steer, our CTO, and Stephen Jamieson, Head of Analytics & Insight SAP UK, the event discussed and demonstrated how to deliver unprecedented data insights.

The main trends in analytics were discussed. Andy said, “It is very important that you pay close attention to the quality of the data you have, who is going to use it, and the governance that sits around that”. Andy went on, “You need to think about interactive information that can be delivered across a variety of platforms, so people can make the decisions they need to at-the-moment, rather than having to wait until they can access a traditional report.”

Discussing SAP predictive analytics, Stephen explained why collaborative and predictive analytics are becoming core to decision making and how BI is moving from the hands of the few to the hands of the many. The presentation also explained the impact of BI platforms on a business’s ability to make real time decisions across the organisation, as well as feed the strategic decision making process.

Graphic-Insight-to-Action

A live demonstration given by Asad Mahmood, our Head of Database and Technology at NTT DATA Business Solutions UK, consolidated the thought leadership from Andy and Stephen’s insights into the SAP road map and gave us a practical demonstration of how to derive decision making insights.

Asad’s live presentation demonstrated the roles of an ‘Executive’ and ‘Business Analyst’ in a scenario that showcased the very latest SAP BusinessObjects tools. The session brought to life the vision of big data, predictive, immersive analytics and speed of thought. Asad showed us agile visualisations incorporating structured and unstructured data sources. The audience were left in no doubt how common business issues can be solved and productivity improved, through the process of ‘insight to action’.

Taking the floor, James Relph, BI Business Analyst, John Lewis, presented their recent migration project to SAP BusinessObjects BI4.2, the benefits they are now realising, and how they have streamlined the administration of the BI platform.

“We needed to provide John Lewis with a solid foundation for our five-year BI programme and deliver the latest SAP BI Tools. It is important that we embrace the latest and most up-to-date SAP solutions to maintain our sales growth and competitive advantage”, James explained.

Going into more detail, James outlined how they achieved a rapid implementation, “NTT DATA Business Solutions produced a comprehensive implementation document which included: migration assessment, current architecture, proposed architecture migration approach, schedule of engagement and project plan.”
